Click this link to download the DMR-5200 software installer (use the same software for the Protek 506), which is a self-extracting archive (executable). Place it inside a new folder, appropriately named, and extract the contents there. Do not extract the contents of the DMR-5200.cab file further: this is a Windows Installer 'Cabinet' file which the installing software knows how to deal with. Simply run the file named 'Setup.exe' and follow the instructions.

If you do not have any serial (Com) ports available on your machine, and plan to use a USB to Serial adapter, you must plug the adapter in and configure it using Device Manager prior to launching the software. The only parameter to be concerned about is making it appear as a Com Port in the range of 1 through 8. The software will further configure the port to match the meter's requirements. Set the correct Com Port in the software after launch using 'Edit | RS-232', and the settings will be remembered for future use.

The cost is US$49.99 to obtain a Registration Code, which can be re-entered if the owner upgrades to a new PC, or ever needs to do a clean re-install of the operating system. Note: This software is for Windows XP or Windows 2000 only! It may operate under prior versions of Windows, but with limited functionality!
