Acoustical Symmetry Design / Optimization of Critical Recording & Monitoring Spaces Software Development

Acoustical Symmetry has developed serial communications software for Windows 2000 and XP which adds functionality to the Circuit Test DMR-5200 (the same as the Protek 506, both handheld multimeters), and the Fluke 45 (a benchtop multimeter). This software allows the user to connect the meter to a PC with a serial cable (included with the DMR-5200 meter, and a null-modem cable required in the case of the Fluke 45), and provides the following enhancements:

• Large, high-contrast display of measured values, suitable for making adjustments across a room, or for educational purposes.
• Remote display of Decibel values (dBu) where appropriate, which is not provided by the DMR-5200 meter on the serial port.
• Alarms, auditory and visual, with both high and low triggers.
• Logging, that is, capturing of measured values to a Database at a sampling interval between the lowest allowed by the meter to 60 seconds, and for a duration as long as the meter's battery allows.
• Graphing of resulting data, with display of value at each sampled interval, zoom capability, and display of positive, negative, or both. Each individual sample is time-stamped.
• Conversion of measured data into either an Access Database or Comma Separated Values (CSV) suitable for import into Excel or any other spreadsheet. From here, the data can be transfered into SQL Server, Oracle, or another relational database of your choice.
• Dual Display capability for the Fluke 45, and for the DMR-5200 in the case of AC Volts and dBu.
• Fluke 45 version comes with a 'Control Panel' for manipulating the meter's functions remotely.
• Fluke 45 version is far less expensive than FlukeView Forms™
• Can be used over very large distances, or over Cat 5 cable, using third party extenders.
• Capable of using Com Ports 1-8 on the PC, and compatible with USB Serial Ports
• Configuration of many different background and foreground display colors for maximum legibility.
• Can use any WAV file as the alarm sound.

The software is available for download from this site, and will function for 15 days unless Registered. The cost is US$49.99 to obtain a Registration Code, which can be re-entered if the owner upgrades to a new PC, or ever needs to do a clean re-install of the operating system.
